On Saturday November 1st, 2008 LAMA Sarasota held an event at the Heron East Retirement Home.
At this event we met a fellow biker named George Linder.
George shared his biking experiences with us and also shared the memory of his grandmother "Mickey".
As George described her, she was a very special lady and a very special grandmother whom he has very fond memories of and asked that we commemorate her life on our website so that we may all know her. "Mickey" loved motorcycles and she truly loved the Vmax which she rode and enjoyed on many occassions.
Pictured below is "Mickey" at 93 years young on the bike she so loved. Her love of motorcycles was so strong that even though she had retired from riding her Spirit to Ride still lives on...
At 93 years young, not only did she climb on the bike, she had to climb up on the trailer to get there!!

Some words from her Grandson, George Linder
Unconditional Love by George Linder
Today I want to talk to you about unconditional love.
It’s the love parents have for their children.
It’s the dearest friend that time can go past and when you talk on the phone it’s like a day never past.
It’s lovers whose respect and admiration for each other transcends time and space, for they are family.
It’s the people I met at the Ashford Club, who also knew no bounds for Mickey
It’s the love I had for my Grandmother Mickey.
My unconditional love knew bounds.
Mickey was Grandmother par none, as all my childhood memories for her involved spoiling us rotten all weekend and sending us home to our parents. Mickey excelled at this.
My conditional love for Mickey caused to place my life on hold when I heard she fell to take care of her every need w/o knowing the details.
My love for Mickey allowed me the opportunity to be her arms and legs in her final weeks.
I became more than her Grandson and caregiver.
I became her companion, confidant and best friend forever.
I had the opportunity to discuss the morning news w/ a near Centurion.
I had to opportunity to watch old B&W movies complete with historical explanations and interjections.
I had the opportunity to watch a 4star 1927 silent movie and have her tell me how she knew the actors. BTW I never knew an old silent movie could be so loud.
Best of all, I had the opportunity to put her to bed every night.
Every night she would tell me about how cute we used to be when she would put us to bed.
Every night she would tell me about blowing farts into my stomach and how I would laugh.
Every night had the opportunity to blow farts on her belly until she laughed. She loved it. Sometimes she asked for more.
Every night I put her to bed w/ a smile on her face.
Every night I made sure she knew I loved her.
And every night as I would turn out the lights, she’d thank me for all the effort.
Every night she got the same response, "It’s no effort at all Mickey."
That’s the unconditional love I had for Mickey.
We will all miss you "Mickey", but we will never forget...God Bless
